Meta glasses have seen wide acceptance among users across the globe, but its popularity may be about to explode. The glasses will get support for Instagram Reels by next year, allowing users to watch videos right on the frames.

Meta Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Andrew Bosworth hinted the new feature on Threads in response to a user’s enquiry. According to the executive, the feature is in internal testing currently and will be available for the public “in a couple of months.”

When released, Meta glasses users will be able to watch Instagram Reels directly from their glasses, allowing for more easy interaction between the glasses and Instagram. Users have expressed excitement at the news of the new feature.

Meta Glasses Could Become More Popular

Since the launch of Meta glasses, the devices have grown rapidly in popularity across different continents including Europe where there have been many regulatory hurdles. Despite the hurdles, the glasses have been widely accepted in Europe, and Meta rolled out an AI boost to them last year.

With this rollout of Instagram Reels however, the glasses are likely to become even more popular among. It appears users have always looked forward to such a feature that will allow them to watch videos on the glasses as shown by the request one user made, leading to the hint on the upcoming Reels support.

Not only will the glasses become more popular but Instagram Reels are also likely to get more interaction. One user also revealed that he would 10X his Instagram Reels consumption when the feature is available. This shows that the feature is timely and is meeting a need that users already have, hence its potential to see great acceptance.

Meta’s Tech Advancement

Meta has made many advances in technology recently, especially in AI but a lot of attention has been given to social media platforms as well. Just recently, the company launched an automatic tool to flag when Facebook reels are being reused without permission.

The tool is meant to ensure that reels are not stolen and users who steal them are properly punished, while creators are properly rewarded for their effort. It is Meta’s first attempt at protecting property rights on Facebook.
