Meta has started rolling out Meta AI on Ray-Ban Meta glasses in France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain, enabling people to do more with their glasses.
Meta announced this in a blog post on 18 November, saying people from the mentioned countries can start interacting with Meta AI using their voice to get answers to general questions.
As part of the rollout, Meta AI will now be available in French, Italian and Spanish, in addition to English, the announcement said.
Helping people do more
Ray-Ban users can now get inspiration, as well as connect with people and things they care about, thanks to the new rolloutI.
This is made possible with the hands-free way to ask questions on-the-go and receive real time answers and information, recommendations that Meta AI provides. Part of the announcement says:
“Since we launched in September 2023, we have been diligently working to ensure that Ray-Ban Meta glasses comply with Europe’s complex regulatory system. We are excited to begin bringing Meta AI and its innovative features to parts of the EU and look forward to expanding to more European countries soon.”
For now, features which rely on Meta AI’s ability to answer questions about what the user can see are only available in the US, Canada and Australia. Meta is however working on bringing those features to more countries in the near future.
Growing in Europe
Meta has expanded its reach in technology to different parts of the world. It seems the company also has special interest in Europe despite the struggles it faces with regulators.
Just last week, it deployed Quest devices in European universities as part of its experiment towards deploying immersive technology in academics.
Meta also recently announced subsidized no ads subscription to European users of Facebook and Instagram in a bid to give them a better user experience.
