Tesla Robotaxi learns how to pick you up even better
Amid efforts to prove itself better than Waymo in driverless ride-hailing capabilities, Tesla Robotaxi has upgraded its service to make it noticeably better and more convenient for customers, and the update was confirmed by CEO Elon Musk himself.
As it happens, users of the Tesla Robotaxi have noted over the weekend that the Austin Robotaxi no longer navigates strictly to the pickup point listed in the app, but instead it now stops in the exact location of the user’s phone, according to the X post by Tesla enthusiast Owen Sparks shared on July 21.
Musk confirms the upgrade
Meanwhile, Elon Musk has confirmed the update, pointing out in the comments that it was one of the upgrades to the platform. Although it seems like a relatively minor update, it means a lot in terms of convenience of the Robotaxi service for the end user.
As Sparks added, the Tesla Robotaxi makes an audible chirp as well, which he said “has a nice kid [sic] of woody sound to it.”
Earlier, Tesla Robotaxi has beaten Waymo in a crucial performance metric – the size of its service area – shortly after launch in Austin, Texas, all the while laughing in the face of its driverless ride-hailing opponent with the lewd shape of the area on the map.
Elsewhere, Musk has recently teased Tesla’s “most epic demo ever” that might refer to Optimus V3, Tesla’s latest humanoid robot evolution, while others have speculated it’s about the Tesla Roadster, an upcoming all-electric supercar with record-setting performance and efficiency.
More recently, his other venture, Neuralink, posted a major update, informing the public that it had officially completed two brain implants in a single day, with Patients 8 and 9 both receiving their devices over the past weekend, making it another one of the firsts for the famous neurotechnology company.
