Google Workspace rolls out new Gems features for Gemini Advanced users – find out what has changed
Google Workspace has added new Gems features for Gemini Advanced users which are available to all subscribers.
According to an announcement on 12 November, the new features will be rolling out over the next few weeks to help users and organizations to deepen their usage of Gemini.
This rollout empowers employees in any organization to experience generative AI firsthand, securely and confidently, to quickly answer questions, kickstart research, or brainstorm new ideas, the announcement said.
Improving custom Gems
From today, users can reference Google Drive and/or uploaded files when building custom Gems. Gems are customized versions of Gemini that help users tackle repetitive tasks or get deep expertise in new areas,and are the most used Gemini Advanced feature.
With the new improvements, users can now add up to ten files when creating a custom Gem, using the same file types and sizes as the Doc With file uploads, the Gems receive even more context to provide more insightful and helpful responses.
Soon, Gemini for Workspace subscribers will also have access to six new premade Gems targeting business use cases.
These include marketing insights, sales pitch ideator, hiring consultant, outreach specialist, copy creator, and sentiment analyzer. With these premade Gems, business users can take on role-specific tasks to boost their workplace productivity.
Additionally, business users will be able to do research and find solutions on the go by logging in with their Google Workspace accounts to use the Gemini mobile app on Android. This feature will be rolling out over the coming weeks.
Finally, administrators are given enhanced controls and expanded compliance, giving them greater confidence in deploying the Gemini app across their organization.
They can easily set data retention windows to meet specific needs and benefit from Google’s growing list of compliance certifications, including HIPAA, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, ISO 27701, and ISO 9001, all of which will be completed within next month.

Google has embarked on developing AI in a big way recently. With its collection of AI models known as Gemini, it has achieved a lot across its products.
It recently rolled out customized AI content creation on Google Doc, a feature that allows users to create content using Gemini.
