Google has rolled out a new Google doc feature that allows users to create customized content using Gemini, Google’s AI assistant.
The company announced in a tweet on 24 October that it will be rolling out the feature gradually starting from today.
However, the feature is only available for Workspace Labs and Alpha users for now as it is still in the testing phase.
How it works
First, you need to have access to Workspace Labs features to try the new service. You can quickly check by opening a blank document on Google Doc, then proceed to “File” > “ and then look for “Help me create”.
Now, enter a prompt that describes your document. You may also add related documents by inserting the “@” symbol and then click “Next”. Gemini will create the content for you from scratch.
You will get a document with images or cover images, and a document with different styles based on your prompt.
Content you can create include proposals, project trackers, brainstorm documents, blog posts, press releases, campaign briefs, menus for dinner parties, family newsletters, vacation itineraries and more.
As the new feature is rolling out gradually, it may not be available to all users yet. For those who already have access, the feature is currently on desktop, and only available in a new blank document.
If you don’t get what you want
As Gemini for Google Workspace is continuously learning, it may not be able to support your request just yet. You’re encouraged to give feedback on your experience to help AI-assisted Workspace features improve.
You can send feedback by looking at the bottom of the generated document and selecting “Good draft document” or “Bad draft document” from the message that comes up.
You’ll see a pop–up window, in which you can select the data you want to share along with your feedback, including prompts, additional context, and outputs. If you don’t want to share certain data, you can uncheck it.
If you select “Bad draft document”, click “Next” to select the issue you found and enter additional feedback, and then click “Submit”.
You may also provide general feedback on the feature by going to “Help” at the top and selecting “Help Docs improve”.
You can also report a legal issue by creating a request. Alternatively, you can turn off the feature by exiting the Workspace Labs.
