XRP Whales Are Moving — Binance Records Largest Outflow in Six Months

XRP whales are on the move again, and the scale of it is turning heads. Large holders pulled 231 million XRP off Binance few days ago, a haul worth roughly $330 million and the biggest single-day withdrawal the exchange has logged in six months.

That figure dwarfs the 90-day average outflow of about $40 million, according to CryptoQuant’s exchange flow data.

What Do the Numbers Actually Show?

The withdrawal jumped more than four times over just 48 hours, based on CryptoQuant’s analyst Darkfost’s tracking. Large exchange withdrawals typically point to accumulation, coins moving into cold storage or long-term custody rather than sitting ready to sell.

But the picture isn’t entirely one-sided. Whales also sent roughly 1.451 billion XRP onto Binance over the same stretch, which muddies any clean read on whether big holders are stockpiling or repositioning for a sale.

Futures volume tied to XRP hit $11.37 billion, its highest level in more than six months, a sign that leveraged traders are watching the same signals just as closely.

How Has Price Reacted?

XRP traded at $1.43 as of August 27, 2026 (12:00 UTC), up 20.1% over the past seven days. The chart tells a bumpier story than that weekly number suggests.

Price spiked toward $1.60 around August 22, pulled back into the low $1.30s by August 26, then climbed back to $1.43 heading into the following session.

Zoom out further and the move looks even sharper: XRP’s market cap added $44 billion in just three days as the token rallied more than 70% off the $0.987 level it touched earlier in August.

That kind of move tends to draw the breakout-versus-rejection debate analysts have been having over XRP’s resistance zone for weeks.

Is This a New Pattern for XRP?

It isn’t the first time whale behavior on Binance has shifted sharply enough to become its own story.

XRP has swung between phases of record-low exchange deposits and sudden spikes in large-holder activity throughout the year, often lining up with moments when sentiment itself was already stretched.

That history is worth keeping in mind here, since this week’s outflow followed a stretch where sentiment had swung from one extreme to the other in a matter of months, not unlike the bearish sentiment reading XRP flashed earlier this year, right before a rebound.

What Traders Should Watch Next

Three things will likely decide which way this breaks. First, watch whether Binance outflows keep outpacing inflows over the coming days; a single large withdrawal is noise, a sustained trend is a signal.

Second, keep an eye on the $1.50 resistance zone; a decisive close above it on rising volume would support Darkfost’s case for a run at $2, while a rejection could send XRP back toward the low $1.30s.

Third, watch ETF flows, since continued institutional buying alongside shrinking exchange reserves is the combination that tends to squeeze price higher fastest.

If withdrawals keep accelerating while resistance holds, expect a volatile chop rather than a clean breakout in the short term.
