XRP’s trading volume just surged to its highest level since February, and the scale of it stands out.
Spot volume across major exchanges climbed sharply through August, according to data shared by CryptoQuant contributor Arab Chain.
Binance alone handled roughly $7.28 billion in XRP spot trades during the month, well ahead of every other exchange tracked.
The Record Behind the Headline
XRP hit $15.4 billion in 24-hour trading volume on August 22, 2026, according to data compiled by CoinMarketCap. That beat the token’s previous 2026 volume record of $11.836 billion by 30%.
That earlier record was set back on February 6, during the recovery from a sharp sell-off the day before.
XRP had fallen nearly 20% to $1.21 on February 5, then rebounded 21% the next day on record trading activity. August’s volume spike dwarfed that entire episode.
Where the Volume Actually Came From
Binance’s $7.28 billion led the pack. Upbit followed at roughly $4.68 billion, and Bithumb Korea added another $2.59 billion.
Bybit processed about $1.40 billion, Gate.io around $1.33 billion, and KuCoin near $1.23 billion.
Techgaged tracked a related shift in exchange activity back in September, when 500 million XRP left Binance over a sustained stretch, even as trading volume on the exchange kept climbing.
What This Actually Tells You
A jump in trading volume doesn’t point to higher or lower prices on its own. It simply means more buyers and sellers are active at once. What it does confirm is a real improvement in liquidity around XRP.
Deeper liquidity tends to help a token absorb larger price swings without slipping as hard in either direction, a dynamic Techgaged flagged when tracking the resistance zone XRP kept testing through much of the summer.
XRP’s Price This Week
XRP traded at $1.42 on September 6, 2026, up 1.9% over seven days. Market cap sits at $88.9 billion, with a fully diluted valuation of $141.7 billion and 62.7 billion tokens in circulation out of a 100 billion max supply.

The chart shows the volume surge landing right in the middle of real price chop, dipping to $1.35 through September 1 to 3, spiking to $1.45 on September 4, then settling near $1.42.
A six-month volume high paired with only a 1.9% weekly price gain tells you this rally is running on participation, not conviction, yet. That’s usually the setup right before a bigger move, not after one.
If this liquidity holds through the next few weeks rather than fading with the news cycle, XRP is better positioned to break cleanly through $1.50 than it was during any of its earlier attempts this year.
