Weeks after ASUS seemingly teased the 2025 Xbox handheld with a short video of an ASUS ROG Ally-style device alongside an Xbox controller, more details have appeared thanks to a couple of leaked photos and some initial details.
As it happens, the photos of the upcoming models, in white and black versions, come from the Indonesian certification office, which 91mobiles discovered and linked with an official US FCC listing, according to a report published by VideoCardz on May 7.
Leaked Xbox handheld photos
Judging from the leaked photos, there’s an Xbox button on the black version of the device, which either doesn’t appear with the logo or is used for a different purpose on the white model, suggesting that this is the rumored Xbox handheld or ‘Project Kennan.’
Furthermore, the black edition seems to be a lot more advanced, featuring Ryzen Z2 Extreme with 8 cores and TDP of 36W, with 64GB LPDDR5-8533 memory, whereas the white version uses AMD Aerith Plus with 4 cores and 20W TDP.
In terms of other details, it looks like the ROG Ally 2 will have a redesigned exterior that resembles a gaming controller and larger grips in the back, whereas it will retain the large screen bezels as on the original model and the ROG Ally X. There are two USB-C connectors on the top.
Meanwhile, Xbox plans to bring cloud gaming to LG smart TVs later this year as it makes its app available on the TVs for the first time ever, as part of the company’s mission to bring games to more people on more devices, and Xbox President Sarah Bond said players will also be able to purchase Xbox games on Android devices.
