Now that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake is officially out in the open following a leak from the Virtuos Games website, fans who have been waiting for The Elder Scrolls 6 for years to come out are wondering if there’s any chance that the long-anticipated game is still in the cards.
Indeed, Bethesda has recently acknowledged that Oblivion Remake is coming despite the studio earlier claiming it had no official information about it, which means that The Elder Scrolls 6 could be on the back burner for the time being, especially considering the other major upcoming games.
Elder Scrolls 6 in a few years?
As it happens, Bethesda Game Studios announced The Elder Scrolls 6 seven years ago, and the fact that Oblivion Remake is about to be released 20 years after the original, means it could be at least a few more years before the number 6 finally reaches players.
Then, there are also the rumors that the game studio is also working on a Fallout 3 remake alongside a number of other remasters of yet-unnamed classics.
At the same time, a LinkedIn profile of a Bethesda employee mentioning a mystery game dated “202X” in their work experience, alongside Fallout 76 released in 2018 and Starfield launched in 2023, suggests that The Elder Scrolls 6 might actually launch in the next five years (provided this is indeed the unannounced game).
Meanwhile, gamers everywhere have other things to enjoy and/or look forward to, even if TES6 isn’t close, like TES4 Oblivion Remake, the recently launched final patch for Baldur’s Gate 3, and the upcoming XCOM-inspired Star Wars Zero Company.
Then, there’s Lords of the Fallen with its major cross-platform update, the surprise early access to RuneScape Dragonwilds, the earlier Fallout 76 Ghoul Within update, Hearthstone’s Patch 32.0, and rumors of a Knights of the Old Republic remake, just to name a few.
