As the automotive industry continues to bring innovations, Volkswagen has just unveiled a nostalgia-packed yet modern Polo Edition 50 to mark the 50th birthday of its iconic compact hatchback with a sleek, celebratory package.
Specifically, five decades after it first released the Polo, Volkswagen is launching the Polo Edition 50 with an extensive standard equipment package and specific small design details, the popular German carmaker said in a press release on June 11.

Indeed, the anniversary model looks a lot different from its origins and builds on the well-equipped Style trim, boasting 16-inch Coventry alloys, dark-tinted rear windows, and a subtle ‘50’ 3D badge on the B-pillars. For those who want more flair, 17-inch Torosa wheels can be fitted.
Inside, the cabin features illuminated ‘Edition 50’ sill plates, gloss-black dash accents, and sporty front seats with heating. A flat-bottomed leather multifunction steering wheel with a commemorative badge completes the look, accompanied by chrome accents, ambient lighting, and a black headliner.
In line with the times, the Edition 50 includes a robust suite of driver assists – Park Assist, Side Assist, Front Assist, and more – as standard. You’ll also find a Discover Media infotainment system with navigation, streaming, and app connectivity, as well as the rear-view camera system and driving profile picker.
Under the hood, you can choose from three versions of the 1.0 TSI petrol engine – 70 kW (95 PS) with a five-speed manual, as well as 70 kW or 85 kW (116 PS) paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic. Meanwhile, fuel economy ranges from 5.1 to 5.7 liters/100 km, with emissions as low as 116 g/km, depending on the configuration.
Finally, if you’re one of the folks who prioritize comfort, an optional ‘Plus’ package adds a large tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, two-zone climate control, and keyless access.
