Google Workspace has enabled Google Docs users to create original images within their documents using Gemini.
In a tweet on 15 November, Google Workspace stated that the feature starts rolling out today, and users have different styles to choose from.
The feature is available to users on work or school accounts through a Gemini for Google Workspace add-on, and to users on personal accounts through Google One AI Premium.
How it works
To create a cover image for a document with Gemini in Docs, users can use the “Help me create an image” option that is available to eligible users.
They can then give as detailed a description of the image they want as possible, and Gemini will create the image.
In a blank Google Docs document, they can click the point where you want the image to be, then go up and click on “Insert”, then “Image”, and “Help me create.”
Next, they will need to enter a prompt for the image on the panel on the right. The prompt should be as detailed as possible for best results.
After clicking “Create”, several suggested images will come up, and the user can click on the preferred image to insert it.
Cover images are however, only available in pageless mode, and become hidden when the document is converted to pages mode.
The feature also allows users to give feedback on a generated image. Because Gemini for Google Workspace continues to learn and improve, users’ feedback helps it to create better images in the future.
Another improvement to Google Docs
Google has added several improvements to Google Docs this year, and the image creation with Gemini is only the latest.
Google Workspace rolled out new Gems features this week, which enables organizations to experience generative AI firsthand.
In October, the company unveiled customized AI content creation for Google Docs also, making it easier to improve contents on the text editor to suit different use cases.
