Toyota unveils versatile e‑Palette for next‑gen mobility

Japanese auto giant, Toyota has launched a new next-gen multipurpose mobility e-Pallete, making it available for sale.

The company announced on 15 September that the battery electric vehicle (BEV) can be used for different purposes of mobility, and is meant to serve a wide range of users who can start using it starting September 15.

Versatile mobility

The Toyota e-Pallete is a relatively small automobile with a spacious interior and large windows. This makes it suitable for conveying passengers in a more casual way than usual.

It is also suitable for a variety of mobility services with a single vehicle, such as a mobile store or service space. It can serve as a shuttle bus in the morning and evening while operating as a store during the day as it charges.

The car is also easily customizable for other uses, such as for sight seeing or as an entertainment vehicle when equipped with remote communication or audio equipment.

As the next-gen vehicle that it is, the e-Pallete is equipped with several multi-use applications, and its aesthetic richness adds color to any city.

Starting today, Toyota will introduce the vehicle in TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO and surrounding areas as well as Toyota Woven City, for transportation and as a mobile store for various goods, among other uses.

The company also plans to test automated driving for the e-Pallete in collaboration with dealerships, municipalities, and automated driving partners in certain regions ahead in line with plans to launch vehicles with Level 4 automated driving systems in 2027.

Handicap-friendly

Apart from its versatility in use cases, the ePallete is also designed to accommodate even the physically challenged and elderly. With a wide interior and low floor, it allows for easy boarding and exit.

The floor is also adjustable to let people with wheelchairs get on board and alight, and has a one-touch fattening device for wheelchairs, making it a vehicle for all categories of users.
