Tesla has announced the release of its V4 supercharger that is set to revolutionize electric vehicle charging.
According to a tweet on 14 November, the new supercharger comes with much more power than the previous superchargers spread across the globe.
What it has to offer
The V4 charger cabinet comes with much larger capacity to charge, with a capacity of up to 500 kW. This means much faster charging to save time for users.
It supports 400V-1000V vehicle architectures, and has 30% faster charging for Cybertruck, meaning that Cybertruck users will charge faster than any other model with the new cabinet.
Compatible vehicles will also enjoy the 250kW charge rates they already have on V3 Cabinet, making the V4 a cabinet for all vehicles.
The new V4 cabinet also powers 8 posts, 2X the stalls per cabinet. This results in lower carbon footprint and complexity, which means more sites can come online faster.
In terms of power density, the V4 has three times the power density, giving it higher throughput at a lower cost. What’s more? The V4 is designed for reliability and durability that gives it the best hardware so far.
With this combination of features, the new supercharger is set to make the charging of electric vehicles easier and faster to give users the best experience ever.
A new milestone
Indeed, the launch of the new V4 supercharger is a major milestone for Tesla on the path towards making charging faster and more efficient. This is also a major achievement in the fight for clean energy.
The company has been on this journey for a while, and has achieved other notable milestones. One of them is reaching 60,000 superchargers worldwide. This target was achieved at the launch of a new supercharger station in Japan.
