Tesla cars remain among the most popular in Europe despite the recent resistance put up by Europeans against the company.
Data shared on 27 February reveal that the Model Y is currently the second-best selling EV model across the continent, second only to Volkswagen ID.4.
Meanwhile, deliveries of the refreshed Model Y is already on, opening the door to new possibilities that may bring it back to the top of the list.
Incredible resilience
Tesla has seen a 45% drop in sales in Europe as Europeans rose up against the company due to the political stance of the company’s CEO, Elon Musk.
Tesla factories have come under attack at different times as the residents in several European countries said they did not want Tesla anymore.
Just recently, the far-left extremists in Berlin, Germany claimed responsibility for a fire at a construction site linked to Tesla.
The group declared that they were protesting the expansion of Tesla in the country, since the construction firm is building a freight yard for Tesla, which involves clearing large areas of forest.
Despite the opposition, the company intends to double its capacity to one million cars annually. The resistance has been most intense in Germany because of Musk’s vocal support for the far-right AfD party.
Some Europeans have gone as far as selling their Teslas while those who were planning to buy changed their minds as a result.
Tesla still popular
From the data, Tesla is still a popular brand in Europe despite the belief that it had become unpopular on account of Musk.
Also notable is the fact that other countries and regions are seeking the establishment of Tesla Gigafactories in their jurisdictions.
For example, a right-wing candidate for the Canadian Prime Minister position has hinted his support for a Tesla Gigafactory in the country if he wins the election.
