Tesla has opened its first store in the Philippines in a new expansion move. The store will be opened to the public on 9 November.
According to an X post on 8 November, Tesla Model 3 and Model Y will be the first to be sold from the store starting tomorrow. Customers in the country can now order the two models from the Tesla website and receive their deliveries.
A big expansion move
Tesla has been expanding its reach recently in several ways, including its supercharger stations and the sale of its vehicles.
The opening of the first store in the Philippines is a major step in this expansion move, as the country is a major market with a population of 116 million, where EV registrations surged by 50% from 2022 to 2023.
Located in Uptown Bonifacio, Taguig City, the store will start selling the Model 3 at PHP 2,109,000 (~$36,110) and the Model Y at PHP 2,369,000 (~$40,560).
This move isn’t coming as a surprise, as the Tesla 2024.32.3 update had quietly introduced support for the Philippines back in September. Hopefully, more models will be introduced to the store as time passes.
Tesla’s biggest milestones
Expanding the Tesla market to the Philippines and by extension, Southeast Asia is a major step in the right direction, but the company has reached other notable milestones.
For example, it hit 60,000 superchargers last month as it continues to plant new charging stations worldwide.
More recently, it has patented cathode materials that will enhance the performance of LFP batteries, increasing the lifespan and capacity retention among other benefits.
