Although certain concerns have arisen surrounding the vehicles of the popular carmaker headed by Elon Musk, the Tesla Model 3 has earned top marks in European safety tests and the Euro NCAP has named it Europe’s safest new car on sale in 2025.
As it happens, the Tesla Model 3 has emerged at the top of the list among 20 newly tested vehicles, scoring an impressive 359 out of 400 possible points across all major safety categories, according to the latest data retrieved from the official Euro NCAP website on July 4.
How did the Tesla Model 3 perform?
Indeed, under Euro NCAP’s stricter 2025 testing protocols, Model 3 has earned 90% for adult occupant safety, 93% for child occupant protection, 89% for pedestrian safety, and 87% for its Safety Assist systems, receiving particular praise for its advanced driver assistance features.
For instance, the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system performed remarkably across different test scenarios, as did Tesla’s Intelligent Speed Assistance and child presence detection system. The report also singled out Model 3’s pedestrian-friendly pop-up hood and strong crash protection for both front and side collisions.
Furthermore, the electric sedan’s ability to detect vulnerable road users during complex maneuvers like turning across oncoming traffic has also earned a special mention.
That said, it wasn’t all good news. Euro NCAP raised concerns about driver expectations of Tesla’s Autopilot system, warning that some drivers may overestimate its capabilities, leading to misuse or inattention when driving. Nonetheless, the new and stricter tests, which now include the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and night-time tests, have rated it the highest this year.
Meanwhile, Tesla has remained among the most popular auto brands in Europe despite widespread resistance against the company due to the political stance of its CEO, Elon Musk, and even far-left extremists in Germany claiming responsibility for a fire at a construction site linked to Tesla.
