After Ray-Ban Meta, smart glasses are making a comeback, and one of the strongest contenders is Tecno, which has just debuted its AI Glasses lineup, bringing the challenge to the industry’s biggest names.
As it happens, Tecno presented its AI Glasses and AI Glasses Pro, designed to rival the Ray-Ban Meta while providing additional capabilities, at the recent MWC 2025 event, held between March 3 and 6 in Barcelona, Spain, according to a report on March 7.
Specifically, the AI Glasses look just like ‘normal’ glasses and come in two design options – EyeBrow Frame and Aviator Style. They also fit as comfortably as regular glasses because of their aluminum alloy and lightweight composite materials.
The only thing that’s slightly different is the thicker temples, housing hardware buttons and touchpads for interaction.
Furthermore, users can control the AI Glasses using voice commands taken by Tecno’s Ella AI assistant, which integrates ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek. The products also feature real-time translation for over 100 languages, object recognition, and information summarization.
Tecno’s AI Glasses specifications
Both models use a 50 MP f/2.4 camera with a 100-degree field of view, paired with an OV50D sensor and a 6nm AstraSight image processor equipped with AI noise reduction and AI HDR. Naturally, you can use the camera to take images and videos.
That said, the camera in the basic AI Glasses model is positioned on the side, whereas in the AI Glasses Pro, it is located at the center.
The Pro version also has a major advantage – a microLED augmented reality (AR) display with the 7th-generation waveguide technology. It lights up in green and projects real-time information like language translation and summaries directly in the user’s line of sight.
This also allows it to act as a teleprompter in presentations, speeches, and content creation.
Compared to Ray-Ban’s Meta, Tecno’s AI Glasses feature a 250 mAh battery supporting up to 11 hours of use, while Meta has a 4-hour 149 mAh battery. Additionally, Tecno’s 50 MP sensor is much more advanced than Ray-Ban’s 12 MP camera. As a bonus, Tecno’s glasses are also lighter than the Meta.
As a reminder, Meta started rolling out its Meta AI on Ray-Ban Meta glasses in September 2023, expanding the support to France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain, in November 2024, with more countries coming up as the company works to comply with Europe’s complex regulatory system.
