TikTok and Instagram users can now share videos on YouTube, but there’s a catch
Content creators on TikTok and Instagram can now share their videos on YouTube in a new content sharing agreement.
YouTube shared the news on 6 February, stating that the cross-platform content sharing is made possible through an agreement the company entered with Repurpose.io.
This allows content creators to repurpose their short videos from other platforms to YouTube, thus revolutionizing content creation but is not for everyone.
How it works
The new content sharing feature can be set up with just a few clicks. Once done, this automates the sharing of content from TikTok or Instagram on YouTube.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the deal is that the content is future proof on YouTube, meaning it will be relevant even as the platform continues to evolve.
The feature is however not for everyone, as it is designed specifically for selected TikTok and Instagram users.
The conditions for access to the service were however not stated, so only at the point of signing up can one find out if they are eligible.
Though a paid service, the announcement says it will be free of charge for the first three months before subscription payment begins.
YouTube users have applauded the initiative which makes content sharing and repurposing easier than ever before.
Offering users options
The recent crisis surrounding TikTok in the U.S. has left many users perplexed, some of which are yet to recover the app despite the lifting of the ban by the new Donald Trump administration.
This may therefore be an attractive offer that most TikTok users would jump on, as uncertainty looms on the future of the Chinese social platform.
Even if TikTok is restored eventually, having a “backup” platform like YouTube for curating videos is not a bad idea and certainly doesn’t hurt..
