Strategy’s Bitcoin treasury just hit another massive milestone. The company confirmed it now holds $52 billion in Net Reserve after debt and preferred claims.
Strategy shared the full breakdown on X. The math starts with 845,050 BTC holdings valued at $79,000 per coin. That’s a $66.8 billion BTC Reserve.

How the Number Breaks Down
Add $6.7 billion in USD Assets to that BTC Reserve. Then subtract $6.7 billion in debt. Then subtract $14.8 billion in preferred stock obligations. What’s left is $52.0 billion in Net Reserve.
Techgaged previously reported on the cost basis question sitting underneath this figure, noting that Strategy’s average purchase price runs close to current market levels rather than deep in profit.
Why Strategy Reports It This Way
Strategy introduced this net-reserve framework back in July 2026. Before that, the company mainly promoted its total Bitcoin stack on its own.
The new approach shows the claims that sit ahead of common shareholders. Preferred stock and convertible debt both get paid first in a liquidation scenario.
Only what’s left after those claims actually belongs to common equity holders. That’s the $52 billion figure, not the $66.8 billion gross Bitcoin value.
The Bigger Picture on Strategy’s Balance Sheet
This follows Strategy’s return to buying. The company purchased 4,603 BTC for $370 million on August 31, ending a ten-week pause.
During that pause, Strategy sold Bitcoin instead, funding preferred stock buybacks and building up its USD reserve.
Techgaged also flagged how critics have read these balance-sheet moves, noting that Peter Schiff has argued Strategy’s reliance on debt and equity issuance signals underlying strain rather than strength.
Bitcoin’s Price This Week
Bitcoin traded at $79,634.67 on September 5, 2026 (12:00 UTC), up 2.6% over seven days.
The chart shows real volatility. Price chopped between $77,000 and $79,000 through most of the week.

It spiked sharply to $81,500 around September 4. It pulled back to $79.63K by September 5.
Strategy’s net reserve figure moves directly with this price, since $66.8 billion of it depends entirely on where Bitcoin trades on any given day.
What This Means Going Forward
A $52 billion net reserve gives Strategy real cushion against price swings, even after accounting for every claim ahead of common shareholders.
Whether that cushion keeps growing depends almost entirely on Bitcoin holding above the levels baked into this week’s math, since a meaningful pullback would shrink the net figure faster than any capital raise could offset it.
