Solana just broke its own transaction record for the second time in under a week.
Price has barely reacted, and that gap between raw activity and market attention is worth unpacking.
The Record Itself
Solana processed more than 170 million non-vote transactions in a single day this week, over ten times the volume of the next closest blockchain.
That figure builds on a run of back-to-back records this month. Solana hit 169.9 million non-vote transactions on August 4, then topped that with 171.9 million on August 10.

Two records inside six days points to a sustained shift in network capacity, not a one-off spike.
What Actually Made This Possible
The jump traces back to a technical change. Solana activated the SIMD-0286 upgrade on July 29, raising the maximum compute limit per block from 60 million to 100 million compute units, a 66% increase. Blocks were previously hitting their ceiling more often than most people realized.
Roughly 11.2% of blocks under the old limit were reaching 56 million compute units or higher, meaning demand was getting squeezed out during busy periods rather than sitting idle waiting for users.
A Network Techgaged Has Watched Through Rough Patches Too
Solana’s climb to record throughput follows a stretch of real turbulence.
Techgaged reported in February that the network’s social sentiment had collapsed even as validator patches quietly kept fixing node stability and vote processing issues underneath.
That same month, validator participation itself was trending sharply lower, with vote transactions down roughly 40%.
The current record run shows non-vote activity climbing while that separate validator contraction was still playing out, which is an unusual combination for any network to pull off.
Why This Traffic Isn’t Just Noise
A meaningful share of this volume comes from real economic activity rather than empty blockspace usage.
Market makers running automated quote updates accounted for roughly 20% of all Solana transactions as of late 2025, according to Blockworks Research, alongside arbitrage and order-book maintenance that keeps spreads tight for everyday traders.
Weekly application revenue has also climbed 32% since early-April lows, reaching $23.9 million in the most recent week, a sign the transaction surge is translating into real fees rather than inflated counts.
What The Chart Says
As of 09:56 UTC on August 17, 2026, SOL/USD trades at $75.29 on the weekly chart, up 1.13%.

Price sits well below the resistance zone near $80 to $90 and remains a long way from its 2025 highs above $249.
The RSI Divergence Indicator has flagged repeated bearish signals through most of this year, though the most recent marker near the current low has flipped bullish, a shift that hasn’t shown up on this chart in months.
Is record-breaking network usage enough to eventually pull Solana’s price back in line with its own on-chain activity, or does the market need something else before it starts paying attention?
