Skype users have expressed frustration with Microsoft Teams as an option ahead of anticipated shutdown in May.
The Reddit Skype community on 1 March started a conversation on how the transition to Teams would affect them, many of which said Teams was not an option.
They are therefore looking for any other option as they say recommended platform is not a suitable replacement for Skype.
Skype users lament
Skype announced on 28 February that it was shutting down operations and also recommended a transition to Teams. As expected, some users have attempted to make the transition but with little success.
Besides, they condemned the subscription service on Teams, saying the “pay as you go” service was one of the great things about Skype.
Some have also tried other options.
“I ported my US Skype number to Tello but having an esim activated but not using data in the US is killing my battery… I’m looking for plan C or D really.”
Some however have outrightly rejected Teams as an option to Skype, and are therefore considering better platforms to use.
“No, I won’t switch to “Teams” because I’m not part of a “team”. Don’t want or need the added bloatware. Will check out zoom… first glance shows it might do what I need.”
Another member of the community wrote:
“It really annoys me Microsoft just stop decent applications instead or selling them. Teams is the most annoying app ever and it’s tied to Microsoft office and I use apple. I hate teams with a passion so I’ll find an alternative. Skype was excellent for international businesses.”
From the responses here, shutting down Skype may just be another bad decision that Microsoft will have to learn from.
