Apple users have expressed their negative views on the company’s latest updates for its AI assistant Siri, and its image generator, Playground.
Some of the users took to Reddit to criticize the updates on 9 February, saying they would be better off without the new and supposedly upgraded features.
Poor quality, censorship
Apple introduced Image Playground in November last year as a new addition to Apple Intelligence. It is an app that generates images based on descriptions and other details fed to it.
While this was received with some excitement, the sentiment has changed after users experienced the app.
First, the users complained of the poor quality of images generated, which is far less than their expectation given the premium quality Apple is assumed to offer.
Secondly, some complained of the censorship on the app, saying it puts a tight restriction on the kind of images that can be generated.
“The worst part about Image Playground is the fact that they censored it so much, I literally can’t ask it to make anything without it telling me it’s not allowed. Apple just treating Playground users like children.”
Another user also commented saying:
“Yeah I could understand that, I don’t use it myself so for me that’s not much use – I was trying to generate some more general purpose stuff for a car (like a landscape) and it just couldn’t do what I wanted.”
AI not impressive
It isn’t only Apple that has faced these kinds of criticisms. AI in general seems to be performing below expectation lately, and it shows.
For example, Google’s AI Overview in search results has been terrible, giving users inaccurate summaries on several subjects.
Google users have been looking for ways to block the overview summary and recently found an unprecedented one.
