YouTube has launched a new feature that allows users to share their entertainment playlists with their friends.
The video streaming service shared the update in a tweet on 15 October. Going forward, YouTube users can make their video playlists together with friends. This feature makes it much easier to share and have fun, a major improvement to the platform.
One of many rollouts
YouTube has announced plans to roll out lots of new features in the future, but introduced the playlist creation and sharing feature today. Users can simply invite their friends to collaborate using a special link for mobile, web, and YouTube Music.
While the feature isn’t yet available on TV, the company says it is coming soon, and users can invite others using just a QR code for easy additions to a playlist.
To make playlist building even better, YouTube is allowing users to build custom thumbnails for their lists. They can design their own custom thumbnails for playlists using their own photos or create new ones with generative AI.
Later this year, YouTube intends to add another update that allows users to vote on videos in playlists, letting them curate the best line-up with their friends. This feature will also support creators, as they can use it to have their viewers rank their favorite unboxings or reviews.
Other features
Alongside the playlist sharing feature, YouTube has launched another new feature known as the Sleep Timer. This new feature automatically stops YouTube videos from playing based on the time you set.
This ensures that YouTube videos don’t continue playing after you fall asleep while streaming videos. The feature has been tested with premium users but is available to all users from today across mobile devices.
