Samsung taps Google’s XR tech to launch first Android headset
Samsung is known for its many different headsets but has yet to release one powered by Android operating system until now.
According to a Google announcement on 22 October, Samsung has launched a first-of-its-kind headset powered by Google’s Android XR.
Known as Samsung Galaxy XR, the headset enables users to blend digital experiences with their physical surroundings, giving them an extraordinary experience.
Bringing new capabilities
Android XR is Google’s new operating system for next-generation headsets and glasses.
It combines the helpfulness of Gemini with the user’s real environment to bring new ways to use an AI assistant and experience apps and games.
With this capability built in, Galaxy XR gives users an infinite screen to explore apps with the help of gemini.
They can easily switch between being in the virtual environment and the real world, navigating the interface effortlessly with their voice, hands and eyes.
The headset also allows users to easily add more apps to its screen from Google Play, including apps that were designed specifically for XR.
Some apps that can be added include streaming services like Crunchyroll, HBO Max and Peacock, new versions of Google Maps, Google Photos, YouTube, Google TV, Chrome and Meet.
A new experience in entertainment
The new headsets also perform well in entertainment, giving users access to the world’s best collection of immersive 180 and 360-degree VR as well as 3D content.
Its new capabilities allow users to convert 2D pictures and videos into 3D, helping them to keep in touch with past memories.
With the 3D feature extended to Google Maps, users can easily explore their world with high-quality 3D tours of cities they wish to visit long before they book their plane tickets.
These and many more features make the Samsung Galaxy XR a next-gen masterpiece indeed that offers users the best entertainment experience yet.
