Scaling up servers
One of Proton’s main focuses this year has been the scaling up of its servers to “stay ahead of the demands of our rapidly growing supporter base.”
The efforts include “adding 14 new countries to support voters in countries with a history of censorship or political interference” ahead of elections.
It also reduced blocking in censored countries, decreased CAPTCHAs, and increased download speeds in countries like France and Germany, where it upgraded the last of their 1Gbps servers to 10Gbps.
The company has also added over 700 new servers in multiple countries within the year, including over 100 in the USA, and more than 50 in the UK, Germany, and Switzerland in a bid to provide better services.
