Popular web browser, Opera has added Discord, Slack and Bluesky apps to its sidebar to give users quick and seamless access to their favorite apps.
In a blog post on 25 February, the Opera team said the additions were done in response to customer requests. This follows the testing of the new apps about a month ago.
The apps will be integrated in the sidebar of Opera One, giving users immediate access to while they browse the web.
Making access easier
Discord, Slack, and Bluesky are three independent apps owned by different companies.
This means managing them ideally entails managing three different open tabs at the same time in addition to your browser tabs.
Opera is changing that with this new integration. By placing the apps on the sidebar, users can easily browse while at the same time using these apps without leaving what they are doing.
Already, the browser has given users access to other popular apps, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Telegram, allowing users to choose which of the apps to open at a time.
To get the new apps on the Opera One browser, users will have to update the browser to the latest version or download the latest if they don’t already have it.
In addition
Opera is also introducing two new themes alongside the new app additions to the sidebar. These are Metamorphic and Interstellar.
Metamorphic gives the browser a touch of abstract art and is available in both dark and light modes. It also features browser sounds, background music, and keyboard sounds to make browsing more entertaining.
Interstellar on the other hand gives the browser a sci-fi vibe to browse the web at near-light speeds. It also offers browser sounds, background music, and keyboard sound effects.
This also allows switching between light and dark modes, each offering unique options to customize the UI’s appearance to your preference.
