Following a long wait, OpenAI has finally released its voice-to-video model, Sora, in Europe starting with some countries.
In a notice on 28 February, the AI company behind ChatGPT said the app is now available to Pro users in the EU, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein & Iceland.
Videos made easy
Sora is OpenAI’s video generation model that can take text, image, and video inputs and generate a new video as an output.
It generates short video clips based on provided prompts and can also extend existing videos. First released for ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Pro users in December 2024, the video making platform just became available in Europe.
You can replace, remove, or remake videos to give them better quality overall. Users can create videos of up to 1080p resolution, up to 20 sec long.
With Sora, no technical knowledge is required to create high-quality videos using just text description, voice, or another video.
However, videos used as seed for generation of new videos must belong to the user or they must have express written permission to use them if not from an authorized source.
It is one of the OpenAI features that are exclusive to paid users, so it can be accessed only through a paid subscription which can be monthly or annual.
Other new releases
OpenAI has been releasing new products recently, and Sora availability in Europe is the latest of the releases.
The company just released ChatGPT 4.5 preview, also for Pro users. The new ChatGPT version comes with several improvements such as deeper reasoning and less hallucination.
This makes it significantly more accurate than the previous versions when prompted. OpenAI also said it is safer and personalized so it can help with emotional struggles.
The new version will be rolling out to Plus and Team users next week while Enterprise and Edu users will get it the following week.
