In a unique mashup between rock music and automotive industry, Opel has just announced its role as the exclusive automotive partner at Germany’s largest rock festival, ‘Rock am Ring,’ which will take place from June 6 to 8 at the Nürburgring.
Specifically, the Rüsselsheim-based brand will make its appearance alongside internationally acclaimed bands, such as The Prodigy, Korn, Slipknot, Bullet for My Valentine, Weezer, Bring Me the Horizon, Powerwolf, In Flames, and others, according to a press release from May 13.

At the world-famous festival, Open will also present its new Frontera Hybrid SUV, which boasts a combined system output of 81 kW (110 hp), fuel consumption of 5.2.-5.3 liters (175.83 – 179.21 oz) per 100 km (62 miles), CO2 emissions of 119-120 grams per kilometer, and features a CO2 label ‘D.’
Commenting on the collaboration between his company and the popular music festival, Head of Opel Germany Patrick Dinger shared his enthusiasm and pointed out that Opel and Rock am Ring were the perfect fit, adding:
“Bold, pure, and electrifying – just like the music during the three days of the festival. The new Opel Frontera, which celebrated its dealer premiere in Germany a few days ago, is the best example of this. We are very pleased to be a partner of this extraordinary rock festival, and we will inspire the visitors.”
As it happens, this year’s Rock am Ring (German for ‘Rock at the Ring’) edition is special for another reason. The organizers are celebrating 40 years since the birth of the festival, which has existed since 1985. Interestingly, the headliners at the opening year included U2, Joe Cocker, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, and Rick Springfield, among other famous names.
Since then, Rock am Ring took place every year (with the exception of 2020 and 2021, when its organizers had to cancel it due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions), gathering tens of thousands of attendees and featuring other great names in rock and metal, like the Cure, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Alanis Morissette, Kiss, Genesis, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, R.E.M., and many, many others.
