NYSE Is Eyeing Avalanche for 24/7 Onchain Trading: A Major Catalyst for AVAX
NYSE’s parent company is looking closely at Avalanche. Intercontinental Exchange is evaluating the network as blockchain infrastructure for a 24/7 onchain trading platform still in development.
The disclosure came straight from an ICE executive.

What Blaugrund Said
“As we’ve evaluated different platforms, Avalanche checks a lot of those boxes for us, so we’re very engaged with the team.”
That’s Michael Blaugrund of Intercontinental Exchange and NYSE, speaking about the ongoing search for blockchain infrastructure.
ICE has described the broader platform initiative on its own site, which combines NYSE’s existing Pillar matching engine with blockchain-based settlement.
No contract has been signed. Blaugrund’s statement reflects an evaluation, not a formal selection.
Avalanche’s Institutional Pitch Predates This Moment
This isn’t Avalanche’s first brush with major institutional interest. Its real-world asset ecosystem has been expanding steadily this year.
It has been building the kind of track record that makes a network worth evaluating for something as large as a national exchange’s trading infrastructure.
BlackRock’s tokenized fund and other institutional deployments on Avalanche gave ICE a working example of the network handling real financial products before this conversation ever started.
The Platform ICE Is Building
ICE first disclosed the ATS plan in January 2026. The system would run as a separate venue alongside the traditional NYSE, letting tokenized equities and ETFs trade continuously instead of within fixed market hours.
Trades would settle almost instantly rather than on the current one-day timeline.
Stablecoin funding and fractional shares are both part of the design, though both remain subject to regulatory sign-off.
As of mid-September 2026, the platform is still pending approval and has not gone live.
Price Reacts, But Modestly
AVAX traded at $7.93 as of 08:37 UTC on September 18, 2026, up 5.7% over seven days, per CoinGecko.

The chart shows a steady climb from near $7.20 on September 16 to just under $8.00 following the news. That’s a real move, but nowhere near the scale of a confirmed partnership.
JPMorgan projects tokenized real-world assets could reach $13 trillion by 2030, a backdrop that makes ICE’s interest in Avalanche look less like a one-off headline and more like early positioning for that larger shift.
What Happens From Here
Nothing is finalized. But a Fortune 500 exchange operator naming Avalanche specifically, rather than speaking generically about blockchain options, is a meaningful signal on its own.
If ICE moves from evaluation to selection, AVAX would gain direct exposure to one of the largest pools of institutional trading volume in the world.
