Gaming giant Nvidia has revealed plans to unveil strategic AI tools that will supercharge gaming graphics at this year’s GDC conference.
In a blog post on 13 March, the tech giant said the roll out is necessary as AI is transforming gaming by empowering game developers to take innovative leaps in their work.
Key tools to look forward to
Among the key AI tools Nvidia intends to unveil at the GDC conference are new neural rendering advancements with Unreal Engine 5 and Microsoft DirectX.
Another one is NVIDIA DLSS 4, which is now available in over 100 games and apps, making it the most rapidly adopted NVIDIA game technology of all time, and a Half-Life 2 RTX demo expected on Tuesday, March 18.
Also, the open-source NVIDIA RTX Remix modding platform which has already been released, and NVIDIA ACE technology enhancements are creating a meeting point for next-generation digital humans and AI agents for games.
Nvidia is also partnering with Microsoft to bring neural shading support to the DirectX 12 Agility software development kit preview in April.
This will provide game developers with access to RTX Tensor Cores to accelerate the performance of applications powered by RTX Neural Shaders.
In addition, Unreal Engine developers will be able to get started with RTX Kit which the company introduced earlier this year at the CES.
The kit has features such as RTX Mega Geometry and RTX Hair through the experimental NVIDIA RTX branch of Unreal Engine 5, which enables the rendering of assets with dramatic detail and fidelity to make high-quality visuals in real-time experiences.
Expanding the scope of AI
Nvidia has played a key role in the development of AI for application in different areas of human endeavor.
Just recently, the company unveiled what it called the largest artificial intelligence system yet for genetic research, and has also ventured into mobility by using its technology to build RVs.
