As the automotive industry keeps charging at full speed towards an electric future, Nissan has just premiered its all-new Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid – its first electrified pickup truck – and sleek Dongfeng Nissan N7 sedan.
Indeed, the popular carmaker debuted its new electrified products at Auto Shanghai 2025, where it presented the all-new Frontier Pro as the second of nine New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) that Nissan plans to launch in China by summer 2027, the company said in a press release on April 23.
Frontier Pro characteristics
As it happens, Nissan’s first-ever plug-in hybrid and electrified pickup is a five-seat, dual-purpose vehicle designed for families, supporting daily urban driving, as well as weekend getaways outside the city, as the vehicle manufacturer explained.
What’s more, it’s built around the ‘Rugged Tech’ concept, featuring a modern exterior with a spacious interior, with the Nissan brand logo illuminated in vibrant white on the front mask alongside five LED light elements parallel to the hood line to match the width of the truck.
Furthermore, Frontier Pro runs on a plug-in hybrid powertrain featuring a 1.5-liter four-cylinder internal combustion engine (ICE) and a transmission-mounted, high-output electric motor. Together, they deliver over 300 Kw of power, with up to 135 km of EV-only range for the Chinese market.
With a five-link rear suspension and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, all the models automatically control torque distribution between the front and rear wheels, supporting off-road capability with an electromechanical rear differential lock and four drive modes – hybrid, pure electric, performance, and snow.
In terms of its interior, Frontier Pro boasts a standard panoramic roof, a 10-inch LCD instrument panel, and a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, with available front seat heating, ventilation, and seat-back massage options. Other details include roof rails and an electronic retractable cover for the cargo area.
Finally, owners can also use their pickups (which are expected to go on sale in China before the end of 2025 and later exported outside of the country) to charge household devices using a vehicle-to-load (V2L) port supplying up to 6kW of power.
N7 characteristics
Alongside Frontier Pro, Nissan has premiered the all-electric sedan Dongfeng N7, with the company’s V-Motion design signature at the front, as well as 710 high-power LEDs, frameless doors with flush handles on the side, and 882 OLEDs within a full-width light bar.
When parked, the N7 can display customized lighting elements at the front and rear, be it patterns or text.
The sedan is powered by one of the two lithium-iron-phosphate battery options at 58 kWh and 73 kWh, both featuring a 400-volt architecture. All variants are front-wheel drive and have a single electric motor with output ranging from 160 kW to 200 kW.
In terms of charging, it goes from 10% to 80% in 19 minutes, and from 30% to 80% in just 14 minutes. The driving range may go from a minimum of 510 km with the 58 kWh battery, to 635 km with the 73 kWh variant.
Then, there’s the end-to-end driver-assist system ‘Navigate on Autopilot,’ which can handle complex maneuvers like overtaking, lane changes, turning situations, unexpected merging by other vehicles, as well as challenging parking scenarios.
Inside, the N7 offers a ‘zero-pressure’ AI-based front seating, adjustable on input from 49 individual sensors, accompanied by a 12-point massage functionality for drivers and a pneumatic cushion mechanism with up to 60 mm extension.
On top of that, the 15.6-inch central infotainment screen features a 2.5K resolution assisted by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor and DeepSeek-R1 AI integration, as well as 32GB of memory, 256GB of storage space, and up to 14-speaker audio.
The N7 also has a refrigerated compartment below the front armrest, 256-color ambient illumination, and a large panoramic roof. The sedan will go on sale in China later this month.
