A recent study has revealed that 69 percent of people believe artificial intelligence (AI) will replace human research analysts in 3 years.
The study conducted by online survey tool, Qualtrics, gathered 3,000 researchers from 14 countries to know their thoughts about the future of research analysis.
In conclusion, the study agrees that while adoption of AI is inevitable in 2025 and beyond, the critical role of humans cannot be ruled out.
The rising adoption of AI
The use of AI has infiltrated every sector of the global economy. From content creation to autonomous vehicles, industries are navigating towards the use of the technology to boost efficiency and reduce cost.
A recent study sponsored by Microsoft shows that the use of AI isn’t only increasing, but businesses are looking towards building customized AI tailored to their businesses in the future.
This new study agrees with the fact that more efficient methods of data collection and research are required for businesses to keep pace with the dynamic business landscape of today and satisfy consumers, so the use of AI has become relevant.
However, this does not in any way replace the key role that human employees play in the success of the business. According to the Principal XM Scientist at Qualtrics, Emily Geisen,
‘‘With AI as a new teammate, we can shift our focus from repetitive tasks to strategic insights, enhancing the quality of research. However, despite technological advances, we must not forget that the nuance and critical thinking humans provide remains irreplaceable.”
Going forward
Based on this study and the prevailing trends, AI has come to stay and will be an integral part of research and other aspects of human endeavour.
This is in spite of widespread concerns that the technology could make humans obsolete and irrelevant. The study also suggests that AI and humans can be complementary rather than competitive.
