Delta Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) have entered a Codeshare agreement. The two companies entered the agreement on 25 September to ease movement between Scandinavia and North America.
The partnership is coming shortly after SAS joined SkyTeam on September 1, and will offer several benefits to travelers visiting Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Aland Islands.
Improving customer experience
Delta and SAS intend to improve the customer experience of North Americans traveling to Scandinavia. As part of the agreement, customers will enjoy several benefits, including earning and redeeming SkyMiles or SAS EuroBonus points across both carriers.
Additionally, Delta customers flying from North America will have access to 50 destinations in Northern Europe beyond SAS’s hubs in Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo.
Commenting on the partnership, Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s Senior Vice President Alliances said:
“As part of Delta’s mission to connect people around the world, our new partnership with SAS will strengthen our presence in Northern Europe by offering customers improved access to destinations throughout Scandinavia and a better overall flying experience.”
Maximizing SkyTeam membership
With the partnership, SAS customers will access over 150 destinations in North America via Delta’s hubs in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle.
The two companies currently offer non-stop service to Sweden between Stockholm Arlanda Airport and New York Newark, JFK, and Miami.
Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer of SAS said:
“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Delta through this new codeshare agreement, enhancing travel options between Scandinavia and North America. With our new direct route from Copenhagen to Seattle, we’re strengthening connections to the Pacific Northwest offering more travel options for our passengers.
Verhagen added that this collaboration offers great opportunities for SAS to provide easy connectivity and benefits across the company’s global network by leveraging its SkyTeam membership.
