A Siri user has shared how the Apple AI assistant exposed him while in the shower when he asked her to do something else.
The Redditor shared his experience on 2 March in response to the news that Apple is likely to release a conversational Siri by 2026.
Several other users also shared their experience, most of which seem to be terrible, making them unimpressed with the news.
Siri blunders
Siri is an AI assistant created by Apple that uses voice commands to perform tasks like making calls, setting reminders, and searching for information.
The digital assistant can also be used to power an entire smart house to control things like lights, thermostats, appliances, entertainment, and more.
However, the Siri misses it more times than you may think. This user shared his experience saying:
“I had Siri pick up something from a song while I was having a shower and it opened all my shades. Neighbors got a free show.”
Another user compared Siri with ChatGPT, which won’t be the first time, except in this case, ChatGPT seems to be better.
“If your accent is non-standard English type Siri can even struggle with setting a timer. I absolutely adore Apple, their products are unparalleled but Siri really is poor. I want a Siri that’s basically like ChatGPT voice mode – which isn’t without its flaws but it’s more robust. I do understand they aren’t comparable as different solutions etc but it’s just more functional and natural.”
Apple in the news
Apple has been in the news a lot recently, and mostly for not so impressive reasons. Just recently, the voice-to-text feature of iPhones associated Donald Trump with the word “racist”.
There’s also a criticism of the image generating software known as Image Playground which is said to exhibit racial bias.
At this rate, most Apple customers aren’t very excited about a “conversational” Siri, until it proves to be better than what they expect.
