Microsoft Edge has added new extensions to its Android browser in a new experimental development.
Reports say the company is bringing these additions to its mobile browser for initial testing.
They have already been updated to the Android browser in Canary for Android, and include those for different purposes with security at the top.
Staying ahead with extensions
The Microsoft Edge browser isn’t known for many things and may not be the most popular choice among internet users, but one thing has made it stand out — Android extensions.
So far, not many web browsers offer extensions for their mobile versions, but Edge has been offering this to users for a while now.
With the new additions, there is a new flag titled “Extension V3” in the experimental section, enabling which adds a few more extensions to the list of existing ones.
The nine new extensions added to the list, include NordVPN, Browsec VPN, and FetchV Video downloader for m3u8 among others. The focus seems to be on security and media downloads, but cuts across many uses.
Other additions to look out for
Microsoft Edge will certainly add more extensions to the mobile browser in the near future, but it is not certain when next, and that should be after confirming the new ones.
However, there are other things to look forward to. Apparently, the browser is also working on releasing real-time video translation as it has been showing “coming soon” on this for the last couple of months according to users’ observations.
The company may also have other features in the pipelines as Microsoft, its parent company has been doing a lot of upgrades lately. It recently released the Windows 11 2024 upgrade which was received with mixed feelings among users.
