Meta has introduced new features on demand to make Messenger calling easier, more reliable and fun.
In a press release on 20 November, Meta said some of the new features are among the most requested features by users.
Building on past efforts
The new rollout of features is a major step Meta is taking to make Messenger better. The company had announced new ways to personalize Messenger chat themes with unique, AI-generated images from Meta AI.
Going forward, Messenger users will be able to use AI backgrounds in video calls that reflect how they feel or just to add color to their calls.
Meta is also introducing HD video calls, background noise suppression, and voice isolation that will allow users to make clearer calls with higher quality on Messenger.
While HD calls will be enabled automatically when making calls on WiFi, users can also enable it when making calls on cellular data by going to their call settings and turning on “Mobile data for HD video.”
If for any reason the receiver of the call doesn’t call it, users can also leave video or audio voice messages for them to catch up on.
Another feature is background noise suppression and voice isolation, which users can manually enable via call settings in Messenger.
Finally, users can make hands-free calls and send messages by simply asking Siri to make calls or send messages to your contacts.
Improving user experience
Meta has been working to improve user experience across its platforms. Just this week, the company released Recommendations Reset for Instagram, allowing users to decide the type of content they wish to see.
The company is also working on bringing immersive reality to different sectors, including education. Quest devices have been deployed in European universities to try out the use of virtual reality in teaching.
