Meta has just announced the rollout of Meta AI to Europe after a long and winding road through the regulatory landscape of the continent.
This brings the company’s AI features which are already being used on Meta social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp in other parts of the world to Europeans.
If you’re in Europe, you may be wondering what this means for you. The following are some of the ways that you can use Meta AI to enhance your experience going forward.
- Spice up group chats
Meta is rolling out Meta AI on WhatsApp, and later on Messenger and Instagram Direct Messaging. Users of these platforms can leverage the “on-call” assistant to spice up their conversations in their groups, no matter the subject.
All they have to do is type “@MetaAI” followed by their prompt or question in their chosen chat group, and await their reply.
- Easy access to curated content
Another important way Meta AI will be of help to European users is by helping them source information. It can be confusing trying to look for relevant information at every stage.
With Meta AI, users don’t have to jump from tab to tab, because the assistant will now make it easier to discover content that is relevant to them and their interests.
They can use Meta AI to generate results from reels or posts from their friends and followers. Whatever they need, all they have to do is describe the kind of content they need such as “show me Vancouver Island content” and they will see everything there is on the subject.
Users can also use the Meta AI chat feature to access information from the web, making it an easy and efficient way to get the information they need all in one place.
Going forward
For now, these are the functionalities available for European users, but Meta says it looks forward to bringing more products to the continent and other parts of the world.
People from 41 European Countries, including those in the European Union, as well as 21 Overseas Territories can now access these features.
