Mercedes Benz is initiating a future-proof cloud integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as it plans to improve its IT infrastructure.
The company in a press release on 30 January said the integration is made possible through a partnership with enterprise application software company, SAP.
Mercedes Benzâs central business applications will be migrated to the cloud with âRISE with SAPâ on Amazon Web Services (AWS), and AWS will become the only cloud provider.
Towards future-proof IT infrastructure
Mercedes Benz has been going big on software development recently, and is now working towards an IT infrastructure that is adapted not just for todayâs challenges but for the future as well.
The partnership with SAP will hasten the process of achieving this, and is expected to bring more innovation and flexibility.
After signing the agreement in December 2024, the company is in the process of implementation, with Key SAP applications along the value chain being moved to Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Katrin Lehmann, CIO of Mercedes-Benz AG:
âAs tech frontrunners, the IT department at Mercedes-Benz implements a future-proof IT infrastructure to optimally connect people and technologies. With the migration to âRISE with SAPâ on AWS, we can make processes along the value chain leaner and more efficient. Radical standardisation and the integration with AI models further increase speed and create space for innovations.â
Through this integration, Mercedes Benz will enjoy continuous updates, giving the company access to the latest technologies, including AI.
Other aspects of the company such as finance and controlling applications to logistics and after-sales will also be positively impacted by the integration.
Ozgur Tohumcu, General Manager for Automotive and Manufacturing at AWS said:
âWe have a long history of supporting Mercedes-Benzâs workloads in the cloud to help streamline processes, improve productivity, and reduce costs. Together with SAP, weâre helping Mercedes-Benz accelerate innovation with enhanced cloud performance, reliability, and security.â
Also ensuring safety
While Mercedes Benz is pursuing excellence in its IT infrastructure, the company is also keen on boosting the safety of its users.
This is evident as Euro NCAP awarded one of its cars, the E-Class, as the overall best performer in 2024 across brands and safety categories.
The company also recently received clearance in Germany for level 3 autonomous driving with 95 km/h.
