Amid the automotive industry’s continuous pursuit of new models and updates of old ones, Land Rover is no different, having just released multiple upgrades to its iconic Defender for 2025 to make it even more distinctive and adventure-ready.
Indeed, the Defender 4×4 line-up has received an overhaul in the form of upgraded finishes, design, and technology enhancements across 90, 110, and 130 body designs, including Defender OCTA, the popular vehicle manufacturer said in a press release on May 28.

Specifically, the upgrades include a novel headlight design featuring signature graphic when lit, fog lights as standard, as well as flush backlights with smoked lenses. Additionally, the carmaker has refreshed its palette with modern exterior colors and finishes, enhanced detailing, and upgraded materials.
Meanwhile, the interior boasts a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen, whereas technological upgrades include optional Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control for the first ever on Defender. In addition, Defender 130 now also has an optional integrated air compressor.
At the same time, Defender OCTA has received an exclusive new Sargasso Blue exterior color and tactile Textured Graphite accents, with plans revealed for a Patagonia White Matter Wrap exterior as well – on Defender OCTA and 5.0-liter V8 models – in late 2025.
Other updates include new driver-facing Driver Attention Monitor camera, the Enhanced Explorer, Adventure, and Urban accessory packs, the Gloss Black Defender-branded wheel center caps, and a 22-inch seven-spoke Diamond Turned Dark Grey alloy wheel design.
Defender OCTA-specific innovations range from the 635 PS 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 power, 6D Dynamics suspension, Body and Soul Seats, to a dedicated OCTA Mode for performance off-road use.
Commenting on the latest development, Defender’s managing director Mark Cameron shared his firm’s enthusiasm and explained that:
“With a bloodline that can be traced back to the first Series I of 1948, Defender continues to capture the imagination of our clients. (…) Fresh design enhancements, new colors, and an expanded range of accessories follow Defender’s comprehensive upgrade last year, ensuring our iconic 4×4 is better than ever.”
Earlier this year, Land Rover unveiled two new special editions to its Discovery range – Tempest, which it referred to as the “most luxurious Discovery ever” and Gemini, a “thoroughly modern tribute to the ingenious design of the original 1989 Discovery.”
Around the same time, it has also released more details concerning its first fully electric vehicle (EV), the upcoming Range Rover Electric, which has successfully completed a second round of testing and development in the sub-zero conditions of the Arctic Circle.
