After Kia Corporation recently revealed its new EV4 sedan and hatchback, as well as the Concept EV2 SUV at the brand’s 2025 Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain, more details have come out about the upcoming Kia EV2, including the design details and the planned sales start date.
Indeed, the B-segment SUV Concept EV2 will be the company’s smallest EV yet, featuring double vertical headlights with Kia’s Star Map light signature, as well as the rugged front and rear bumpers and side skirts in the form of a bone-shaped silver bar running the entire width of the car, per a report on March 4.
Kia EV2 design specifications
The bar nestles in mottled black body cladding, forming the chunky fender flares at the same time. As for the rest of the body, it boasts geometric details like the wraparound windscreen design, sharp shoulder lines extending over the front and rear haunches, and square shapes inside the wheels. The taillights stretch above the wheel arches.
Furthermore, Kia EV2’s design spotlights pillar-less suicide doors (rear-hinged), a bold light-blue color scheme accentuated by deep red wrapping the dashboard and the rest of the front section. The unconventional octagonal steering wheel flatters the dash’s contours, behind which there’s a widescreen display panel that supports updates over the air.
Additionally, the Concept EV2 features bench seating both at the front and rear, and it allows folding up the backseats to allow the front seats to slide all the way back. The pop-up luggage dividers and straps prevent items from sliding out of place, and outward-facing panels allow users to message other road users.
And while the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed any technical details, EV2 is set to hit the car salons in Europe and other regions starting in 2026.
As a reminder, Kia revealed its Concept EV2 model, alongside the EV4 as its first electrified sedan (four-door) and hatchback (five-door), completing its EV lineup, at the brand’s recent EV event in Spain. In the words of Kia President and CEO, Ho Sung Song:
“The Kia Concept EV2 represents a bold step forward for the future of urban mobility. (…) With the Concept EV2, we challenged ourselves to create a vehicle that defies expectations, offering innovative technology and practicality beyond its size. This concept previews Kia’s future vision to redefine the segment, bringing a new level of sophistication and usability to urban drivers.”
Elsewhere, Kia has revealed plans to decrease EV charging costs for its customers by introducing a new Smart Charging service as part of Hyundai Motor Group’s global push to advance the Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) concept. The service is already available to EV owners in the Netherlands.
