As the innovations in the automotive industry continue, Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) has just presented its Awning and Rooftop Tent (ARTT) concept, an all-in-one awning and rooftop tent system that integrates with the Jeep Wrangler.
Indeed, Jeep has announced the conceptual camping solution for the Jeep Wrangler by unveiling the premium, lightweight, and low-profile ARTT concept at the recent Overland Expo West event in Flagstaff, Arizona, according to a press release from May 16.
Inflatable rooftop tent and awning system
Notably, the creators of the ARTT concept have designed it exclusively for the four-door Jeep Wrangler in partnership with Dometic, the manufacturer of a wide array of mobile living and outdoor products, to develop a lightweight, all-in-one awning and rooftop tent system.
Specifically, the concept aims to address the issue currently faced by existing rooftop tent solutions – poor aerodynamics and added high-mounted weights. It achieves this by using a carbon-fiber shell, which removes the need for a heavy roof rack system by attaching it directly to the vehicle’s roof.
Furthermore, users can easily fold the system into its shell, as well as pitch it – and the integrated awning that swings out 270 degrees – equally easily using Dometic’s AIR Frame Inflation technology. The interior is spacious enough to contain a queen-size mattress.
The inside of the tent is also accessible from inside the Jeep Wrangler itself through the removed freedom panels. The design also features an interior carbon-fiber step that protects the center console from accidental damage while operating and using the ARTT system.
Commenting on the development, Mike Koval, Jeep brand’s senior vice president and head of sales operations, shared his company’s excitement over the positive consumer reaction to the ARTT concept at Overland Expo West and explained that:
“The lightweight and compact JPP Awning and Rooftop Tent concept is the perfect accessory for adventure-seeking Jeep Wrangler owners, whether they are overlanding across long distances or decide to go on a spur-of-the-moment quick weekend getaway.”
Meanwhile, Jeep has been declared America’s most patriotic brand for 2025 among the 1,350 competitors in an annual Brand Keys survey, making it the 24th year in a row that the popular off-road brand, which has been around since World War II, has won this prestigious recognition.
