With the year 2025 all about gaming remasters and remakes, gamers have another jewel to look forward to – Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the popular third-person shooter that Microsoft has just announced for August for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
As it happens, Microsoft said that the game has been “faithfully remastered and natively optimized for more platforms than ever before” by its developers, supporting cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms, according to a プレスリリース from May 5.
Gears of War: Reloaded specifications
Besides its novel multi-platform experience, Gears of War: Reloaded features 4K resolution, 120 FPS support, High Dynamic Range (HDR), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Dolby Vision and 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos, accompanied by 7.1.4 3D Spatial Audio, as well as 4K assets and remastered textures.
For an additional flair, fans will get even more enhanced post-processing visual effects, better shadows and reflections, super resolution with advanced anti-aliasing, and zero loading screens during the bonus downloadable Campaign act (available from day one at no additional cost).
Per Microsoft, Gears of War: Reloaded is the work of The Coalition (formerly Microsoft Game Studios Vancouver) in partnership with Sumo Interactive and Disbelief. It will launch on August 26, 2025, on all the supported platforms.
And as a form of Microsoft’s ‘thank you’ to its longtime Xbox fans, if you’ve already bought the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before the recent announcement (that’s prior to May 5, 2025, 16:00 UTC), you’re getting a free upgrade to Gears of War: Reloaded.
Meanwhile, this announcement arrives amid a slew of upcoming and already released games and remakes, after fans of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion received a massive surprise in the form of the unexpected release of the remastered version of their beloved game.
We’re also looking forward to the XCOM-inspired Star Wars Zero Company coming out sometime in 2026, which will also arrive on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5, while Bethesda reportedly has a few other aces up its sleeve, one of which could be a remastered Fallout 3.
