With the excitement around Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 still very much abound, a tester has exposed it to brutal durability trials to see how it holds up, and it did just that – with some surprising results.
Indeed, technology YouTuber Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything has put Samsung’s latest ultra-thin foldable through extensive stress tests (including, of course, bendability), sharing the process in a video titled ‘Samsung Z 7 Durability Test – The End is Near’ ストリーム on July 27.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 vs brutal bends
Specifically, despite extreme physical pressure, including a forceful bend attempt, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 retained its full functionality, without the inner display breaking or creasing, or the redesigned hinge showing any signs of wear and tear, which is a big deal for such a thin and lightweight phone.
According to Nelson, this is nothing short of “literal black magic.” As he said:
“I’m not sure what Voldemort Horcrux level of sorcery Samsung built this thing with, but I’m literally flexing the rear glass panel out of the frame without the glass cracking, without the phone cracking, and without the hinge cracking.”
As a reminder, Samsung recently 前記 that its Galaxy Z Fold 7 can endure more than 500,000 folds (far more than the Z Fold 6), which the tester said means that “theoretically, you could bend this phone 100 times a day for nearly 14 years, and it’d still be okay.”
On top of that, the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s display and hinge exceeded expectations in the dust exposure test despite its IP48 rating (suggesting it’s not fully dustproof), holding up marvelously under a massive amount of dust and debris during the tests.
Furthermore, the scratch test revealed slight damage at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7, which the tester said is in line with other flagship models like the Pixel 9 or the iPhone 16 Pro. Unfortunately, the inner screen still scratches at a level 2, but that’s why Samsung includes one free inner screen protector replacement free of charge in the first 12 months.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s first triple-screen foldable, potentially called Galaxy G Fold, which will have the same rear camera system as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (200MP main, 10MP 3x tele, and 12MP ultrawide), might be launching in October, judging by the claims from a long-time leaker.
