Google has been accused of blocking searches about the U.S. president Donald Trump, 79, and dementia following claims that the 79-year old president has dementia.
Responding to the news, Redditors on 13 November said the reports are true and Google is indeed hiding AI search results on Trump and dementia.
A Google policy?
There has been a recent claim in some quarters that Trump may have dementia.
As a result, many Google users searching for information on the rumor and have discovered that there’s no AI overview available for it in Google’s new AI search mode.
One of the Redditors wrote:
“Very interesting. If you Google “mtg mental decline”, “Bernie sanders mental decline”, or “George Bush mental decline”, Google AI overview has no problem popping up. Googling “Donald Trump mental decline” or ” does Donald Trump wear diapers”, there is no AI overview.”
Indeed, a search for the question “does Trump have dementia” brings up no AI overview, only suggested webpages, but a search for “Bernie Sanders’ mental decline” brings up an AI summary.

Other Redditors said the decision to block such results is in line with Google’s policy to hide results about sensitive topics, especially those concerning a sitting president.
A similar policy is said to be in operation on some social media platforms.
“When I worked at TikTok, we had to shadow ban or remove any videos saying Joe Biden had dementia, as it was not scientifically proven. That policy was all over the place and up to the interpretation of each moderator. The inconsistency helped amplify the outcry of people claiming censorship, and the people claiming that it was misinformation.”
Trump has on several occasions accused Google of rigging search results against him during campaigns.
This seems to be a similar case which this time seems to be in his favor, bringing to question Google’s fairness about its search results.
