ChatGPT users say they have been spending a lot more time on the chatbot for all things work and research lately.
In a post on 26 November, several users confirmed this, saying ChatGPT makes their research easier than other sources.
Does this mean this platform is replacing traditional sources of information such as Reddit, Quora, etc.?
ChatGPT simplifying tasks
ChatGPT is an AI chatbot that helps users with idea generation and provides general answers to questions in nearly every field.
Although still in its infancy and with room for a lot of improvement, the platform has been useful to many users, particularly for research.
These days, users say they spend a lot more time using it than older information sources because of the ease of use.
They say that while on platforms like Quora, you need to keep reading several comments to find the answers you need, ChatGPT provides the answer with a single prompt.
“I feel like chatgpt has partly replaced reddit/quora/hacker news for me. I used to spend a lof time just browsing certain topics and mainly focusing on reading the comments, but now chatgpt does the same except I can ask it about any personalised scenarios and it will craft the kind of responses I would have expected in reddit or even better.”
Another user also appreciated how precise ChatGPT can be, providing the exact answers they are looking for when they search for random information rather than searching through “the noise of the web.”
Even Google is threatened
There has been widespread speculation that ChatGPT could replace lots of information sources, and the opinion of users is only confirming it.
Since OpenAI added a web browsing feature to the chatbot, there is also the question of whether it will replace Google as a search engine as well.
