Following the surprising early sighting of the upcoming iPhone Pro 17, which shouldn’t hit the shelves until September, another leak has suggested that Apple’s long-anticipated device could arrive equipped with a wild new metal battery.
As it happens, a leaker known as Majin Bu has recently shared details and images of an alleged battery pack for the iPhone 17 Pro, which they originally said was for the iPhone 17 Air, and it seems that there will be two variants – for models with and without a physical SIM card tray.

According to the shared photos, the battery appears to have a steel case like the iPhone 16 Pro’s battery, which would help dissipate heat generated by the battery inside the device, and a source told the leaker that the L-shaped battery pack design adapts to the reduced logic board.
Some differences are present between the United States and Chinese variants of the device. Specifically, the US market variant is wider, designed without the need to accommodate a physical SIM, with the layout that maximizes internal space and a wider battery “for optimized capacity without compromises.”

On the other hand, the version for the Chinese market features a dedicated space for a SIM tray, while maintaining the L-shaped design without significant changes, as visible from the images.

Furthermore, the module has a precise finish with a welded edge, and new adhesives aim to facilitate battery replacement. Although the leaker noted that there was still no official charging speed data available, the metal cover suggests improved thermal management and higher power levels.
Earlier, X account Skyfops has shared two photos of a man in reflective sunglasses holding a mysterious device that many believe could be an iPhone 17 Pro inside a thick black protective case, potentially in an attempt to disguise the design, alongside a man who appears to be security.
