Instagram has rolled out some new features in its DM to enhance communication and connection with loved ones.
Meta announced the new features in a blog on 19 February to include message translation, music stickers, scheduled messages, pinned content and group chat QR codes.
Taking DMs to the next level
The new features will enable seamless communication and break language barriers especially with the message translation, as well as give users more control over group chats.
With the message translation, users can translate messages right in their DMs, allowing them to seamlessly communicate with people across the world.
Also by using music stickers, they can share songs with their friends without leaving their DMs. Scheduled messages also allow users to create messages and then schedule them for sending to their friends at a later time.
This allows them to go on with other tasks and not have to hold onto their devices to send messages at any fixed time.
With the pin content feature, users can pin specific messages to the top of their chats, whether one-on-one or group chats.
Group chats have also been expanded to allow users to share personalized QR codes for each group chat. This makes it easier for new people to join group chats by simply scanning the QR codes.
The QR can be refreshed at any time by the group admin, so that the group maintains control over who joins the group cat at any point.
More information is available in the help center of the website for further details on how these features work.
Instagram making improvements
Instagram has made some upgrades recently to ensure that the platform is easier to use and offers better user experience.
Before the new DM features, the platform had rolled out a video editing feature known as Edits. This feature allows users to easily create short videos like those of TikTok.
The feature was introduced at the time when TikTok was facing regulatory challenges, suggesting it came as an alternative for U.S. TikTokers.
