American Honda has unveiled a new on-road motorcycle model designed exclusively for U.S. law enforcement agencies.
In a press release on 3 December, the top automaker said the motorcycle is designed with special components for police work and can be further customized to fit special needs.
The model is available to order exclusively through the Powersports Fleet/Government Purchase Program, the press release further stated.
A masterpiece for police work
The motorcycle comes with special features that make it suitable for police work, one of which is its light weight which allows for easy maneuverability.
Developed based on the European-market NT1100 sport-touring model, it is powered by the parallel-twin engine from the Africa Twin.
It also comes with comfort, convenience, and safety-focused features like a protective fairing, an adjustable windscreen, a plush seat, LED lighting and electronic rider aids, all of which are derived from the consumer-focused version of the NT1100.
Commenting on the new motorcycle, Colin Miller, Manager of Public Relations at American Honda said:
“U.S. motorcycle units and motor officers understand the benefits that two-wheel vehicles can offer over automobiles, and we’re pleased to provide a brand-new option for their fleets. One of the main advantages of a police motorcycle is maneuverability, and the NT1100 Police is unmatched in that area. It also boasts Honda’s legendary reliability and valueâattributes that were proven with law-enforcement agencies in the past, with the police version of the ST1300. Thanks to its light weight, nimble handling and exceptional value, the NT1100 Police promises to be a popular choice among U.S. motorcycle units.”
This model also has some features developed specifically for law-enforcement, including pannier bags, an easily customizable wiring harness, an engine guard, a rear bumper, a document box and a seat cowl. The motorcycle will be available by May 2025.
