After Rockstar Games released the second trailer for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, the gaming community is all abuzz, analyzing it to the tiniest details as the excitement builds up toward the May 2026 game launch.
As it happens, the 2:46-minute-long official GTA 6 trailer 2 (dropped alongside 70 new screenshots and fresh artwork) has revealed plenty to look forward to, from the obvious to not so obvious, and has already surpassed 63 million views, per the details of the video streamed on May 6.
The story from GTA 6 trailer 2
Specifically, we learn that the new GTA follows the story of Jason and Lucia, a couple who get themselves entangled in a major criminal conspiracy following an easy score. The first protagonist is Jason Duval, who joined the army to try and escape his troubled past, but seemingly without much success.
It looks like he’s an employee at the Leonida Marine Center (when he’s not working for local drug runners), judging by the white T-shirt he wears in the video. His girlfriend is Lucia Caminos, the second protagonist, who’s just got out of the Leonida Penitentiary (still wearing the ankle tag). Lucia’s release is conditioned by several hours of community service, and we see her boasting an orange vest as she’s picking up trash.
We also get to meet Jason’s charming landlord, Brian Heder, who’s also running a side drug trafficking gig, smuggling them through the Leonida Keys via his legitimate boat business called Brian’s Boat Works and Marina. There’s also the paranoid Cal Hampton, Jason’s friend and Brian’s associate, hanging around at The Rusty Anchor bar.
Real Dimez, a rapper-influencer duo consisting of Bae-Luxe and Roxy, cover the local celebrity sceneand they have just signed a new record deal with Only Raw Records through their ambitious manager Dre’Quan, who isn’t that interested in the whole Vice City crime scene, despite being part of it.
Dre’Quan works with Boobie Ike, a local legend and an owner of the Jack of Hearts strip club (kinda fitting, considering his name). Together, they use money from drugs and the club to finance Dre’Quan and Real Dimez’s success in the music empire.
Things become complicated
To round up the list of colorful individuals, there’s Raul Bautista, although we don’t get to know him in the trailer itself, but through the GTA 6 website. Raul is a bank robber who’s planning a seemingly simple score with Lucia, but he appears to be a bit reckless, hence the score from the beginning going wrong.
And to make things even more interesting, let’s throw in some corrupt cops and their shady deals, a bunch robberies and heists, all sprinkled with house pets, cage boxing, booze, a gym, a pool, mini-golf, scuba diving, dirt bike racing, kayaking, basketball, fishing, video games, bikers, and a plane cargo fight.
All things considered, the GTA 6 trailer 2 has confirmed what we’ve already guessed – the new game includes a massive open world to explore (like the wetlands, the airport, motels, clubs, plenty of wild nature, and more), superior immersion via gorgeous graphics, and a ton of old and new activities to participate in, promising tens (or even hundreds) of hours of gameplay.
Meanwhile, until May 26, 2026, finally arrives, there are plenty of other things to enjoy, including the recently launched Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, the upcoming Gears of War: Reloaded, and perhaps even Fallout 3 that Bethesda seems to be working on.
