Google users have finally found a new and simple way to permanently block AI Overview in their search results.
According to a post on the Google Reddit page on 2 February, AI Overview can be turned off by simply using a curse word in your Google search.
While this sounds unbelievable, it does turn off the feature permanently and any future search results will not have the overview.

Why users want AI Overview turned off
Google introduced AI Overview sometime last year as a way to make search results easier to understand. The feature summarizes the results from a source, making it unnecessary to click on sources to find out information.
However since its launch, users have been complaining about how it returns results that are either outright false or misleading.
For example, AI Overview once said that astronauts can see 75% of the Earth from the International Space Station.
The statement was found to be outrightly false as it is impossible to see more than 50% of the earth at once from whichever angle in space.
It was later found that the source meant it is possible to see up to 75% of the earth with a full orbit, not at one glance as the summary implied.
This is just one of several such errors in results, which have made Google users prefer viewing search results without the summary.
Now a way out
If you, like many Google users, have been looking for a way to turn off the AI Overview feature, it is now possible.
With this simple trick, no AI overview or summary will show up on your next Google search as you can see in the screenshots above, but it is not known how long the change will last.
Unless you wish to turn it back on, there is nothing to worry about if the effect is permanent.
